Privacy Policy

Reef Angel LLC (“Reef Angel,” “we,” “us”) runs reefangel.com and our online store. This policy also covers the Reef Angel forum at forum.reefangel.com and the Uapp portal and web wizard that Reef Angel controllers connect to. Together we call these the “Service.”

This page explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. Information we collect

When you buy from us

• Your name, email address, phone number, and billing and shipping addresses.
• What you ordered, what you paid, and your order history.
• Payment details are handled by our payment processors (see section 4). We never see or store your full card number.

When you create an account

• Store accounts on reefangel.com: your login details and the order and address information saved to your account. Passwords are stored in hashed form.
• Forum and Uapp portal accounts: your username, email address, password (hashed), profile details, and anything you post on the forum.

When you connect a controller

If you link a Reef Angel controller to the Uapp portal, the controller sends information about itself and your tank to our servers so you can monitor and control it remotely. It sends the readings and settings you see in the app, for example sensor readings (such as temperature or pH), port and relay status, settings, and the controller ID, along with its IP address.

When you contact us

Anything you send us by email or through the contact form, such as your name, email address, and message.

Automatically, when you browse

Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how you got to our site, and similar usage information, collected through cookies and our server logs. We may estimate your general location from your IP address, but we don’t collect precise location.

2. How we use it

• To process, ship, and support your orders, including warranty claims and returns.
• To run your store, forum, and portal accounts and keep connected controllers working.
• To answer your questions and help you troubleshoot your setup.
• To send order confirmations, shipping updates, and other messages about your account. We’ll only send marketing email if you’ve agreed to it.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
• To prevent fraud and spam, enforce our Terms and Conditions, and meet legal obligations.

3. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar tools for a few things:

• Essential cookies that keep your cart and login working and help the site load quickly.
• Analytics through Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) and Jetpack / WooCommerce Analytics, so we can see which pages are used and how the store performs.
• Spam protection through Google reCAPTCHA on our contact form.

We don’t currently use advertising or remarketing cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site (like the cart) may not work without them.

4. Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal information.

We share information only when we need to:

• Payment providers: payments are handled by WooPayments (powered by Stripe), which covers cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, WooPay, Affirm and Klarna, and by PayPal, which covers PayPal, Venmo, Pay Later and some local payment methods. We never see or store your full card number. If you pay with Affirm, Klarna, or PayPal Pay Later, that provider’s own terms and privacy policy also apply.
• Service providers that help us run the business: shipping carriers, our website host, and the analytics tools listed above. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
• Other forum members: posts, your username, and public profile details on the forum can be seen by anyone.
• Legal reasons: if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers, or the public.
• Business changes: if Reef Angel is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
• With your permission for anything else.

5. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we have about you.
• Ask us to correct it.
• Ask us to delete it, including your store, forum, or portal account. We may need to keep some order records for tax, accounting, or warranty reasons.
• Opt out of marketing email at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.

To make a request, email info@reefangel.com. We’ll confirm it’s really you before acting on it and respond within 45 days. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.

6. How long we keep it

We keep information for as long as we need it for the reasons above. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require and for warranty support. We keep forum and portal account data while your account is active. To have your account and its data deleted, email info@reefangel.com.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards like encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and limited access to our systems. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise your information will never be exposed, but we work to protect it.

8. Children

The Service isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us personal information, let us know and we’ll delete it.

9. Visitors outside the U.S.

Reef Angel is based in the United States and our site is hosted here. If you use the Service from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

10. Other websites

Our site links to other services, such as payment providers and GitHub. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we may also let you know by email or with a notice on the site.
