Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Reef Angel. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Reef Angel LLC (“Reef Angel,” “we,” “us”). They cover your use of reefangel.com and our store, Reef Angel controllers and modules, firmware and software, the Uapp portal and web wizard, and the forum at forum.reefangel.com. Together we call these the “Service.”

By using the Service, creating an account, buying something, or setting up a Reef Angel device, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. Accounts

You must be at least 18 to use the Service. When you create an account, the information you give us should be accurate and current. You’re responsible for:

• Keeping your password private.
• Everything that happens under your account.
• Telling us right away if you think someone else has accessed it.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

2. Products, firmware, and connected devices

Reef Angel sells aquarium controllers, expansion modules, and accessories, and provides firmware, apps, and cloud features to go with them.

• Hardware is covered by the warranty on our Warranty & Returns page and is otherwise sold as is.
• Firmware and software are licensed to you, not sold, and may be updated or changed over time. The Reef Angel controller libraries are open source under the Apache License 2.0 and are published on GitHub. Some code there, including third-party components, uses other licenses, and the license noted in each repository or file applies to that code.
• Remote access and other cloud features need an internet connection and may depend on our servers and third-party services.
• How a device behaves can depend on your setup, wiring, equipment, settings, firmware version, and other things outside our control.

A controller is a tool to help you run your tank. It doesn’t replace regular checks, alarms, or backup equipment, and you’re responsible for setting it up and using it safely.

3. Orders, pricing, and payment

Prices are in U.S. dollars unless we say otherwise. We may:

• Change prices at any time.
• Fix pricing or listing mistakes, even after an order is placed.
• Refuse or cancel an order, for example if we suspect fraud or an item is out of stock.

Payments are handled by WooPayments (powered by Stripe) and PayPal, and we don’t store full card details. If you pay with Affirm, Klarna, or PayPal Pay Later, that provider’s own terms also apply. You’re responsible for taxes and any shipping charges shown at checkout.

4. Shipping, returns, and warranty

Shipping is free within the U.S., a $30 flat rate to Canada, and a $65 flat rate to other countries. Shipping times are estimates, not promises. We aren’t responsible for delays caused by carriers, customs, or other things we can’t control.

Our warranty and return policy, including how to get an RMA number, is on the Warranty & Returns page. It’s part of these Terms.

5. Using the Service fairly

Please don’t:

• Use the Service for anything illegal, fraudulent, or abusive.
• Try to get around security or access controls, or access accounts or devices that aren’t yours.
• Interfere with our servers, the portal, or the forum, or overload them on purpose.
• Copy or redistribute our software in ways its license doesn’t allow.

We may look into violations and suspend or close access if needed.

6. Forum posts

You own what you post on the forum, but you give us permission to host, display, and share it as part of the forum. Be respectful and don’t post anything illegal, abusive, spammy, or that you don’t have the right to share. We may edit or remove posts and accounts that break these rules. Posts reflect the views of the people who write them, not Reef Angel, and advice from other members is used at your own risk.

7. Cloud features and changes

The Uapp portal and other online features let you monitor and control your controller remotely.

• We can’t promise they’ll always be available.
• Features may change, be limited, or be discontinued.
• Maintenance may happen without notice.

8. Your data

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. When you connect a controller to the portal, it sends readings, status, and diagnostic information to our servers so the features work and we can help with troubleshooting.

9. Intellectual property

The Reef Angel name and logo, our designs, documentation, site content, and software are owned by Reef Angel or our licensors, except for code released under an open-source license such as the Apache License 2.0. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. No ownership is transferred.

10. Third-party services

The Service may connect to or link to other services, such as payment processors, shipping carriers, analytics tools, and GitHub. We aren’t responsible for those services, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.

11. Disclaimers

Except for the warranty on our Warranty & Returns page, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, Reef Angel disclaims all other warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We don’t promise the Service will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.

12. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Reef Angel isn’t liable for:

• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
• Lost data, profits, or business.
• Device malfunctions, downtime, or connection problems.
• Loss of or damage to livestock, corals, aquariums, or other equipment.

Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid Reef Angel for the product or service the claim is about.

13. Indemnification

If someone makes a claim against Reef Angel or its owners, employees, or partners because you misused the Service, broke these Terms, or violated someone else’s rights, you agree to cover the resulting costs and damages.

14. Ending access

We may suspend or end your access to the Service if you break these Terms or the law. When that happens, your right to use the Service stops right away.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the jurisdiction in which Reef Angel LLC is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
